Poems by Prashant Sankaran

Poet : Prashant Sankaran

Gaza

a mongrel

licks her lips

squatting by the chewed up hand

the soldier plants

the victory flag

on the rubble, nearby

the mongrel stretches lazy

strolls across

marks her territory

on the pole

Absence

cold misty night

moon lies satiated, languid

in the puddle by the road

wings misty wet

a fly falls, struggles

ripples tickling the moon

who waits, impatient

for the calm stillness

of death

Poet’s statement—Prashant Sankaran

Poetry is a response, an articulation of the indentations, left on me, by the fragments of life that rains on me all the time. Some have been there for years as hardened scars, some are just bruises that I capture before they disappear.
